Water absorbency and retention capacity polymer is a polymer which can increasewater penetration and soil water storage volume. It is also called water-retaining agentand the super-absorbent resin. This polymer material can absorb several hundredtimes even thousands times water of its own weight because there are plenty ofhydrophilic groups in its structure. When the environmental conditions changed, itcan also release water to balance the water content. Which has particularlysignificance to study the application of this polymer material for developingagricultural drought resistance water-saving in China. In this thesis, the polymer material was prepared by direct polymerization of acrylicacid (AA), acrylamide (AM) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH), using N,N–methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinker and potassium persulfate (KPS) asan initiator. The preparation conditions were optimized as follows: at roomtemperature use reaction heat to increase the polymerization rate. When theneutralization of acrylic acid (AA) reached75%, m(AA)/m(AM) is5:2, m(KPS)/m(M)is0.0083/1, m(NMBA)/m(M) is0.0017/1, the absorbability of the product reached783.56g/g in distilled water. Room temperature implosion reaction process can avoidthe high temperature cross-linking process, which can save the equipment of aqueoussolution polymerization, reaction time and energy by not decrease the capability ofwater content. Relative to tradition materials, the polymer is prepared for reduce costand increase economic efficiency. In addition, this thesis also measure, analyze and evaluate some indexes of theproduct, e.g., absorbability of water, absorbent rate of water, water releasing property, repeat time of water absorbency and the affect to soil water storage volume. And infield experiments, we measure the indexes of emergence value of seedling, plantheight, stem girth, dry weigh and the net chlorophyll content of corn plantation. Theresult is, at sand-infertile farmland, which used by normal amount with local cropping pattern was suggested.
