Transition metal catalysis has dramatically changed the face of modern organic chemistry by introducing a range of novel synthetic methods. A number of efficient catalytic systems have been developed in recent years. Of particular interest are the fascinating achievements made in the field of catalytic formation of carbon-heteroatom, especially C-S bond. In this paper, some successful examples of C-S cross-coupling reactions catalyzed by Fe, Co, Ni, Pd et. al. are presented. The mechanisms of some coupling reactions catalyzed with nickel are also discussed. Based on previous research, we hope to find more practical and economical catalytic systems. Accordingly, nickel-mediated inter-and intramolecular C-S cross-coupling reactions are studied, and most of the substrates afforded moderate to good yields. Subsequently we demonstrated the value of this catalytic system on the total synthesis of natural product Chuangxinmycin and some drug molecules.
