Molecular electronics is an emerging discipline, and it focuses on the study of the electronic properties of a single molecule or a few molecules. The design and synthesis of new organic molecules for single-molecule electronic devices is one of the hot fields of organic chemistry research. A variety of functional compounds have been synthesized and used to build a variety of molecular wires, molecular rectifiers, molecular switches and molecular memory. Oligo(phenyleneethynylene)s (OPEs) with special electrical conductivity is an important class of molecular wires, which have been studied widely in the field of molecular electronics. According to the characteristics of the Pd/Cu-catalyzed Sonogashira coupling reaction, we have designed and synthesized10types of Oligo(phenyleneethynylene)s (OPEs) that are different in molecular lengths, central units and ends of package groups. The spectral characteristics of these molecules have been systematically investigated.Metal/Molecule/Metal junction is the most important infrastructure of molecular electronics research. The method of making the molecular assembly into nano-gap electrode to construct the metal/molecule/metal junction is a key step for the research of molecular electronics. The crossed-wire is a simple design to construct of Metal/Molecule/Metal junction. We have set up a crossed-wire tunnel junction apparatus, and then, we studied the charge transport property of thiol-terminated Oligo(phenyleneethynylene)s (OPEs) compound L10and amino-terminated Oligo(phenyleneethynylene)s (OPEs) compound L3self-assembled monolayers. We observed the characteristic Ⅰ-Ⅴ curve of the molecular junction and studied the stability of the molecular junction based on L3.
