In The logistic which is called "the third profit source" have been the important way for the enterprise to reduce cost and increase competitiveness. In iron and steel enterprise, production logistics across its production process, it’s reasonable for the iron and steel enterprise’s Production efficiency and operation cost have direct influence. Warehousing system is a very important part of iron and steel enterprise’s production logistics. It serving for the production. Reasonable storage layout can reduce the production links, prevent unnecessary work in production process, can reduce multiple shipments, prevent circuitous go back in material handling, and can improve the production efficiency reduce production cost effectively. At present factory planning of iron and steel enterprise always put the production unit layout planning in the first place, and then plan storage layout. According to this rule this paper optimize the storage layout of iron and steel enterprise.This paper summarize influencing factor for lay out for storekeeping by analysis the characteristic of iron and steel enterprise’s production logistics and Warehouse systems. Based on this, the paper analysis the content. target and principle for warehouse layout optimization, and put forward two-phase method to optimize the warehouse layout, at the same time this paper provide the procedure of use two-phase method to optimize the lay out for storekeeping. According to the procedure, this paper improved the SLP method based on the characteristic of production logistic and warehousing system of iron and steel enterprise firstly. And the use the improved SLP method design the scheme of warehouse layout optimization. After that, build cost minimization model, choose the software named Matlab to solve the equation. At last build force index model to discuss and elect the optimization scheme. In the end this paper put Nanjing iron and steel enterprise as a case, use the two-phase method to optimize its warehousing system, and through analysis the total force between the operational unit confirm the optimization of the scheme.
