As one of the most important components of city ecosystem,plant has greateffect on water cycle and pollution control,which is benificial to maintain andimprove city ecosystem. As one of the most effective and easiest runoff infiltrationfacilities, plants can retention and absorption the pollutants of runoff effectively. Butin the planning, designing and construction of urban green space system,we often onlyconcerned on the value of landscape or entertainment, and it is urgent to study theeffect of greenbelt on pollution control, It also has important instructional meaning tosave the city water resources and protect the city water environment.Based on the characters and needs of central district of Kunming, The authorstudies the pollutant removal mechanism of stromwater runoff through plant,the dataon this paper are based on three ways: including collecting historicalinformation,selecting the data from government offices,and field monitoring,ect,allthe work is done to prove that different plants are have different effection of pollutionreduction,and gets the following conclusions:(1)Based on monitoring the runoff water quality on different underlying surfacein Kunming and analyzing the experient data,the paper covered the time-varyingregularity of stormwater runoff pollutants and the even mean concentrations(EMCs)of stormwater runoff pollutants.Major factors for runoff water quality were alsoanalyzed.(2)As an important component of the greenbelt,plants play an important role inremoval of runoff pollutants. Compared with bare soil,the removal efficiencies ofCOD,TP,TN,NH4+-N,NO3--N,NO2--N are different from each other. For the greenbeltof bluegrass,the removal efficiencies of COD,NH4+-N,TN and TP are76.61%,69.78%,66.53%and65.97%.(3)Based on the research and experience,as well as the study of practicalwork,we discussd the management strategies of urban rainwater runoff, proposedpollutant reduction measures and management policy of urban green space.Therefore,it is of great necessily for the city planning and other relevant government departments.
