Sb2C>3nanorod-bundles were fabricated via hydrothermal way in this paper, and compared with ordinary antimony trioxide In performance. Nano-Sb2O3and DBDPE is used as flame retardant additives in the fields of environment friendly automobile decoration PLA materials. Where the mechanical properties and flame retardant performances of PLA materials with nanorod-bundles Sb2O3and DBDPE were studied using thermal analysis (TGA), oxygen index (OI)、vertical burning among UL standard、Observed by SEM microstructure of composite materials Also DSC and MFR curve was measured when a simple blend of polylactic acid was conducted.The experimental results of PLA/Sb2O3blend system show:The oxygen index increased sharply with the increase of the content of the flame retardant, but overall below the PLA/Nano-Sb203blending system. Sb2O3does little contribution to the Impact Property of the system, slightly improve tensile strength in a certain range, Elongation has a little change, But reduces the young’s modulus. The increase of Sb2O3overall effect the comprehensive mechanic performances of the composite materials.The result of DSC experiment shows, Sb2O3can promote crystallization of polylactic acid in the cold, and have a little influence on melting temperature.The experimental results of PLA/nano-Sb2O3blend system show:the flame retardant effect of this system is superior to the PLA/Sb2O3blending system. The nano-Sb203addition can obviously improve the impact strength of mixed system, improved the elongation in a certain range, affect tensile strength and the young’s modulus to some extent. The result of DSC experiment shows, Sb2O3can promote crystallization of polylactic acid in the cold, and slightly reduce the heat required to melt.The experimental results of PLA/DBDPE-NanoSb2O3blend system show:the increase of the flame retardant content can make the oxygen index rising, it can achieve VO level when the content is15%, have a good collaborative flame retardant performance. The result of DSC experiment shows, Sb2O3can promote crystallization of polylactic acid in the cold, further reduce the cold crystallization temperature. The join of Composite flame retardant improved the impact strength of mixed system, make the other mechanical properties have different degree of reduce after a slightly rise in small rang. We can see from the thermogravimetric analysis tests that the thermal weightlessness temperature is in advance but have good high temperature heat stability, reduced the thermal decomposition, increased the residue, and increased into carbon amount. The join of fire retardant increase the melt flow rate (MFR), make forming more convenient.
