With the development of the computer industry, thermal transfer ribbon, as a kind of foundation consumables, has been used in varied industries including food, medicine and other areas of barcode printing. However, at present, the thermal transfer ribbon is mainly provided by foreign enterprise in the domestic market, which would limit the application of thermal transfer technology in the bar code printing field. Therefore, it’s necessary to develop a mature technology to resist the monopoly of this technology by foreign enterprise. In this paper, coating formula of the thermal transfer ribbon was studied, for developing a thermal transfer ribbon with good scuffing resistant, lightly resistance and heat-stable thermosetting, which would be a technology with our own intellectual property rights.In this paper, the thermal transfer ink formula was optimized, and the heat-stable thermosetting materials were modified. Firstly, the appropriate composite wax was chosen by means of DSC test, in order to obtain a thermal transfer ink with suitable softening point and high heat transfer rate; Furthermore, various composite resins were added to improve the adhesive force and heat-stable thermosetting; Finally, organic and inorganic mixed pigments were supplied for making the ink clear after printing the handwriting, and for making color and lustre bright.A high heat resistance of silicon polymer with a cross-linked network was obtained by means of the UV curable method or polymerization reaction. Acryloyl chloride was used to modify hydroxyl silicone oil via esterification, and then photoinitiator was added to initiate the curing cross-linking reaction. Hydroxyl silicone oil could react with metyl tri-acetoxyl silane in the present of catalyst for taking off the acid. The obtained organic silicon prepolymers with four functional groups possessed higher activity could accelerate curing rate of silicone oil and improve cross-linking density.This paper resolved the problem of formula in the thermal transfer ribbon, and made the advanced ribbon have a higher resolution, which could be identified more easily in practical applications.
