The feeding system is an important part of Numerical Control Machine Tool. ModernNumerical Control Machine Tool trends toward to high speed, high precision and large load.It specially needs better static and dynamic characteristics. In the working conditions of highspeed, high precision and large load, the static and dynamic characteristics of feeding systemwill have an important influence on machining quality and efficiency. Therefore, the staticand dynamic behaviors of feeding system should be researched deeply. The SynchronousDual Ball Screw Feeding System is an innovative feeding drive method in the workingconditions of high speed and large load, and it can increase the motion velocity and accuracyof machine tool effectively but its research is still in an infancy stage. In this paper, the newtype of feeding system was researched in static and dynamic behaviors deeply with finiteelement analysis, virtual prototype technology. Specific achievements are shown as follows:1. In this paper, the3D solid model of the Synchronous Dual Ball Screw Feeding Systemwas established by Pro/E software. And the model was simplified according to the focus ofthis research project and the structural characteristics of the Synchronous Dual Ball ScrewFeeding System. This work laid the foundation for the subsequent simulation analysis of thestatic and dynamic characteristics.2. The stiffness model of the Synchronous Dual Ball Screw Feeding System wasestablished. Based on the3D solid model, the static characteristic of the Synchronous DualBall Screw Feeding System was analyzed using the Workbench software. And the relationshipbetween the ball screw’ diameter and the static deformation of the Synchronous Dual BallScrew Feeding System was studied. This work provided a theoretical basis for the structuraloptimization of the Synchronous Dual Ball Screw Feeding System.3. Based on Lagrange equation,the dynamics model was established. And the modal andharmonic response characteristics of the Synchronous Dual Ball Screw Feeding System wereanalyzed. By analyzing the dynamics model, the influences between the dynamiccharacteristic and the span of the two ball screw and the two pairs of slide rail and the systemdamping were found, also the improvement measures were proposed. After that, the modalcharacteristic of the ball screw was analyzed with ANSYS software.4. The rigid model of the Synchronous Dual Ball Screw Feeding System was establishedby using the virtual prototype software ADAMS. Kinematics characteristics were analyzed,including displacement, velocity and acceleration characteristics in the rapid feeding situation, also including the rigid-flexible coupling dynamics simulation.In summary,this paper provides an improving method of the static and dynamiccharacteristics and a theoretical basis for the structure optimization design of the SynchronousDual Ball Screw Feeding System.
