At present, steel radiator braze mainly uses pure copper as its solder, but due topure copper brazing temperature is high (brazing temperature is above1100), in theprocess of brazing productions often happen workpiece deformation phenomenon, and cause product end-of-life, in addition, the over high brazing temperature increasesenergy consumption, and also produces adverse effect to the brazing equipment life.Brazing of steel radiator mainly has silver based, copper based and nickel basedbrazing filler metal. In this paper, the experiment develops a kind of Cu-base solder with which isused for steel radiator braze. We can know Melting point and microscopic structure ofthe new Cu-base solder using DTA and X-rad and electron prob and metallographicstructure and other means. The results show that the brazing joint has excellentmetallurgical properties and smooth surface. The performance test show that thesolder has good spread ability and seam filling ability and enough joint strength andrelatively low brazing temperature, which can be used for braze low carbon steel. The significance of the study is mainly manifested in two aspects: first, thesuccessful development of copper based brazing filler metal can reduce the brazingtemperature, save energy, and prolong the service life of the equipment, thereby theproduction cost is reduced; second, it can study using of various alloy elements incopper based brazing filler metal, and analyze the influence of the joining elements inbrazing, it has guiding significance in the theory.
