With the increasing scarcity of oil resources and the demands of olefins(ethylene, propylene) increased, which aroused the enthusiasm of people tothe the catalysts of methanol to olefins technology. Granular ZSM-5zeoliteand SAPO-34zeolite is major catalysts for methanol to olefins. The monolithiccatalysts with a layer of active component have great significance to thedevelopment of the new technology of methanol to olefins process for itslower bed pressure and mass transfer efficiency. In this paper, the vapor transfer method, in situ synthesis and coatingmethod were used to prepare three series of SAPO-34/monolithic catalysts, catalysts were characterized by XRD and N2adsorption-desorption isothermsand other analytical tools to study the effect of the ratio of H2O and Al, theamount of template, the ratio of Si and Al, the ratio of P and Al, crystallizationtime, and the type of scattered coating on the monolithic catalyst structure. The catalytic performance of the catalysts for the methanol to olefins wasevaluated in a fixed-bed micro-reactor and best technological conditions wereascertained and studied the effect of the load, reaction temperature and gasspace velocity on the product distribution and obtain the following results:specific surface area prepared by three methods increased with theincreasing of the active component loading, catalyst prepared by vaportransfer method owed a relatively large specific surface area that was410.3m2/g. SAPO-34/monolithic catalysts prepared by vapor thansfer method showthe best activity when the loading was19.7%, reaction temperature was400°C, space velocity was of520810ml/(g h), the selectivity of ethylene andpropylene were40.91%and32.80%, respectively; SAPO-34/monolithiccatalysts prepared by in situ method show the best activity when the loadingwas20.1%, reaction temperature was420°C, space velocity was of480810ml/(g h), the selectivity of ethylene and propylene were29.13%and30.13%,respectively; SAPO-34/monolithic catalysts prepared by in situ method showthe best activity when the loading was24.9%, reaction temperature was400°C,space velocity was of786990ml/(g h), the selectivity of ethylene andpropylene were37.92%and33.73%, respectively.
