In this paper, the preparation of styrene and its influencing factorswas firstly introduced. PS monodisperse microspheres were synthesizedby anionic polymerization and in this polymerization n-butyl lithium asinitiator, made of styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) as a dispersing agent, hexane as the dispersion medium. The role of the selection of thedispersant, the dispersant, initiator monomer concentration, andtemperature in the polymerization was discussed. When the conditions of60°C, the amount of n-butyl lithium is2%(wt), the amount of SSBR is5%(wt), the monodisperse polystyrene microspheres can be prepared, whose particle size is1.8~2.5μm.Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as dispersant, benzoyl peroxide (BPO)as initiator, ethanol/water mixture as the dispersion medium, St/BAdispersion copolymerization was carried out at a certain temperture. Theeffects of initiator concentration, dispersant concentration, reactiontemperature and initial monomer concentration on the polymermicrospheres particle size and size distribution were investigated. Whenthe monomer concentration of St is1mol/L, temperature is65°C, theamount of BPO is2%(wt), the monodisperse St/BA copolymermicrospheres were prepared whose particle size is about2.4μm.BPO as initiator, PVP as dispersant and ethanol/water mixture as thedispersion medium, St/BA colymerization microspheres were prepared atsuitable temperature. The Influential factors of copolymer microspheresparticle size and size distribution were investigated. When the reactiontemperature is70°C, the monomer concentration of St is1mol/L, the amount of BPO is2%(wt), the monodisperse St/MMA copolymermicrospheres were prepared whose particle size is micron level.BPO as initiator, PVP as dispersant and isopropyl alcohol as thedispersion medium, styrene/maleicanhydride copolymerizationmicrospheres were prepared, and observed its morphologicalcharacterization.
