Due to its high porosity and low density characteristics, Porous material is used inhygiene products (such as sanitary napkins and diapers) to speed up the absorption rateof the liquid and make it more uniform distribution. But because of its lower retainingliquid capacity than resin, it has often been applied to diversion layer with fibersabsorbing overlay of the absorbent resin in health supplies. In this paper, PBA/divinyl benzene porous material were prepared via high internalemulsion template. The high internal phase emulsion method is the preparation ofporous materials from bionics starting emulsion template. This method is to occur thepolymerization reaction at a certain temperature with the high internal emulsioncontinuous phase as polymerization phase, water as the dispersed phase drops adding tothe continuous phase. The porous materials with the absorption function can be obtainedafter washing, drying.Poly(butylacrylate/divinyl benzene) emulsion stability of thesystem and the shape of porous materials appearance were discussed by SEM,TG,BETand XRD:(1) The stability of the emulsion is the focus in preparation process of the highinternal phase emulsion. The best composition is: butyl acrylate:6ml, divinylbenzene:1ml, span80:3ml, distilled water:90ml, anhydrous calcium chloride:1.0g, potassiumpersulfate:0.2g, the polymerization temperature:55°C, stirring speed:2000r/min, thedispersed phase drops acceleration:20min/90ml. In this formula, the high internal phaseemulsion system is relatively stable and can be repeated trials.(2) We observe the curing of the porous material by SEM, and find that with theincrease of the dispersed phase volume fraction, the pore size of porous materialsbecome larger, and the hole between the channel also increases; the porous diameterdecreases as the emulsifier concentration increases, the number of channels and thechannel diameter increase; with the divinylbenzene content increase, the pore size isreduced, the hole intensity enhancement, the hole diameter between the channel alsoincrease.(3) With the divinylbenzene content increase, the degree of crosslinking of thematerial increase and the thermal stability is enhanced by TG; the rate of water absor-ption of the porous material increase with the dispersed phase volume percentage, theamount of emulsifier and the divinylbenzene content increase; the rate of salt waterabsorption of the porous material increases as the dispersed phase volume fraction andthe amount of emulsifier increases, and with the divinylbenzene content increase, therate reduce after increase to a limit, with the increase of anhydrous calcium chlorideresidue, the rate of salt water absorption reduce.(4) The low-angle XRD show that the structure of porous is disordered; BETindicate that the micropore and mesopore structures exist in the porous material, but thespecific surface area is very small; the material density reduce as the the dispersed phase volume fraction increase, and increase with the emulsifier and divinylbenzene contentincrease.
