Rubber is known for high elongation, but lack of high strength; Epoxy resins have been widely used because of their excellent mechanical properties, good adhesion, and chemical stability, However, they are relatively brittle. Two network-based rubber(SBR, BR, NBR)/bisphenol A type epoxy resin were prepared to improve the mechanical properties of composites materials. Details are as follows:SBR/E-44, BR/E-44and NBR/E-44composites were prepared by mechanical blending. The formation of two networks and mutual effects between epoxy resin curing process and rubber vulcanization process were studied. The results showed that:because of epoxy resin, rubber vulcanization was delayed; the presence of rubber system accelerated the curing process of epoxy system on SBR/E-44and BR/E-44composites, while the presence of-CN, epoxy resin curing was delayed on NBR/E-44composite.The structure properties of SBR/E-44, BR/E-44and NBR/E-44composites were evaluated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The thermal decomposition temperature of SBR/E-44, BR/E-44and NBR/E-44composites were characterized by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA); The mechanical properties of the composites were tested by micro-controlled electronic universal testing machine. Both SEM and DSC data showed that:When the epoxy resin achieved a certain amount, epoxy resin and SBR, BR, NBR could form two networks respectively, Tg of rubber were all not change on SBR/E-44, BR/E-44and NBR/E-44composites; The TGA data showed that:with the increase of epoxy resin loading, T50%of SBR/E-44, BR/E-44and NBR/E-44composites were reduced; Mechanical properties results showed:tensile strength, tear strength,100%modulus, Shore "A" of SBR/E-44, BR/E-44and NBR/E-44composites all gradually increased with the increase of epoxy resin loading, elongation at break were increased firstly then decreased. The effects of the content of curing agents on mechanical properties of SBR/E-44, BR/E-44and NBR/E-44composites were evaluated. With the increased of curing agents loading, the tensile strength,100%modulus and Shore "A" were increased firstly then decreased, elongation at break was reduced firstly then increased.
