Membrane technology is gradually being used in the landfill leachate treatment with thedevelopment of the leachate treatment. However, a by-product, membrane concentratedlandfill leachate, is produced at the sametime. Membrane concentrated landfill leachate is thekind of non-biochemical waste water which contains high chroma, high concentration ofhumic substance. Among potential ozonation for the non-biochemical waste waters treatment,it could be a efficient treatment of the concentrated leachate.In this study, the RO membrane concentrated landfill leachate collected from a landfill inGuangzhou was degradated by ozonation. The influencing factors were investigated, and akinetic model was established. In addition, the humic substance degradation by ozonation wasinvestigated, and kinetic model was established. Finally, H2O2was usued to catalyze theozonation.The study investigated that reaction time,dosages of ozone,pH and temperature werethe influencing factors of the degradation on the concentrated leachate by ozonation. Theremoval efficiencies of67.6%,96.6%and86.1%for COD, color and humic substances wereachieved under the conditions of90min reaction time,8.0pH,5.02g/h ozone dosage and303K temperature. Moerever, the ratio of BOD5/COD increased from0.008to0.29demonstrated that the biodegradability of landfill leachate was improved using ozoneoxidation technology.In addition, kinetic model of the ozonation on the concentrated leachate was established.The empirical kinetic model of ozonation degradation for landfill leachate under theconditions of2.08.0pH,2.536.90g/h ozone dosage,9344037mg/L initial COD,283323K temperature fitted well with the experimental data. Moerever, the degradation ofhumic substances in the artificial waste water was focused on, and the kinetic model was alsoestablished.Finally, H2O2catalytic ozonation was investigated. H2O2could lead to promote a higherconcentration of·OH in ozonation process. The results showed that the O3/H2O2oxidationsystem was much more effective than the independent ozonation. Under the conditions of8.0initial pH,2.53g/h O3dosage,90mmol/L H2O2dosage,30min reaction time, the COD and humic substances removal efficiencies by O3/H2O2oxidation system were40.80%and26.37%higher than the independent ozonation.
