With the rapid economic and social development in Pearl River Delta Area, the problemof water pollution and eutrophication have become more severe. Such as, many natural pondsin this area have been heavily polluted and get stinking. How to control pollution and remitthe water ecology has been a hot issue for a long time in the society. To deal with the waterpollution problem, a new technology “floating island bio-restoration system” has beendeveloped by the Pearl River Water Resources Research Institute in recent years. Thistechnology is an integration of conventional immobilized microorganism wastewatertreatment technology and the ecological floating bed technology.In this paper, taking theproblem of heavy pollution of eutrophicated pond water for study, the author investigated thefunction mechanism and application method and application effect. The research received thesupport of the Agricultural Scientific and Technological Production Funds Project(2008GB23320427)-the application and dissemination of the floating island type ofbio-treatment system.Taking the Four Square pond of Xiaoxiang Community of Wanjiang District inDongguang City, in this paper, the field trail of the floating island type of bio-treatmentsystem is carried out. The polluted pond is the most serious in Xiaoxiang Community, with5800square meters,4.0to5.0meters depth of water, black-odors water, the fish almost beingexterminated,as well as aglae rapid breedingr. After the trail lasted nine months, the floatingisland type of bio-treatment system showed the efficiency of decontamination capabilities andcontrol algae, the quality and landscape of the pond and biodiversity had been significantlyimproved, and the water ecological restoration has a striking effect.Based on the test results of this thesis, the function mechanism and application methodas well as application effect to the floating island type of bio-treatment system,wesummarized the following conclusion:(1) Microorganism has an important role in decomposing and converting pollutant in thewater body,and cultivated and domesticated of microorganisms are the key step of ecologicalrestoration. The technique uses a kind of complex microbial strains, B550, and provideefficient microbial carrier boxes for father studies by training microbial biofilm.(2) In water pollution treating studies, in the mobile and immobile conditions, comparedto general ecological floating bed, the floating island type of bio-treatment system can purifywater obviously, and the removal rate and the average daily ramoval capacity of SS, NH3-N,TN, TP, CODCris relatively high. (3) In control algae efficiency, a comparison in the effect of treating eutrophicationbetween the floating island type of bio-treatment system and the general ecological floatingbed, it was found that the former can effectively curb the phytoplankton bloom which causedby temperature changing.
