The ultra-precision machining of surface and non-surface components has been widely used in weapon equipment and civilian areas. However, the traditional grinding, polishing process cannot meet the manufacturing requirements because of low efficiency, processing quality and large-size. So to develop a new large optical diamond lathe (LODTM), and to realize ultra-precision, high efficiency and more economical processing is a problem in our optical manufacturing. The LODTM spindle using the hydrostatic bearings. The traditional design methods use the empirical coefficient method, which consist of large randomness, low reliability, thus it can not meet the precision and reliability demand for LODTM. To solve this problem, this thesis complete some work as below:.1) According to the characteristics of large ultra-precision lathe work,designsstructure and source of oil supply systemof hydrostatic bearing, studies key performance parameters, gets basic performance parameters and their variation.2) The pressure field, the flow field and temperature field of the hydrostatic thrust bearing were numerically calculated by using fluid dynamics analysis software ANSYS CFX.According to numerical calculation results of the pressure field, velocity field and temperature field under different film thickness, the hydrostaticbearing performance was analyzed.3) The carrying capacity, radial circular bound and face round beating spindle technical indicatorsof the large vertical ultra-precision lathe, and processing of sample surface roughness were measured, which verified the correctness of the design of the hydrostatic thrust bearing structure of the program. According to performance measurement and analysis of hydrostatic thrust bearings under different loads and different pressure oil into the system,film bearing capacity, the oil film stiffness, flow, temperature and other key performance parameters were got, which verified the key performance parameters mode and the analysis of flow and temperature field performance are right.
