With the accelerated pace of urbanization in China, the rate of urban sewage treatment increased gradually, and sludge production in sewage treatment plants also increased dramatically. Resources recovery of the sludge which is harvest and complex composition is one of the hot topics of the world environmental research. Land utilization of sludge were increasingly valued and gradually adopted, but the risk of heavy metals in soil caused by the sludge subject to further exploration and research.In this paper, heavy metals of sludge in four sewage treatment plants of Taiyuan City were comparative analysed and risk evaluated; The distribution of heavy metal forms in the sludge were studied; Choose one of the sludges in sewage treatment plant to study the effect to total heavy metals and chemical forms in soils. The major contents are summarized as follows:Chapter I:We summarized the basic concepts, origin and composition of the sludge; We summarized disposal methods and the status quo of sewage sludge, the focal point is apply sludge to land; The dangers of heavy metals, the distribution of chemical forms and environmental toxicity are also introduced; Heavy metals in sludge and land utilize impact on soils are reviewed; And, the significance and the main content of this artical are shown.Chapter Ⅱ:The heavy metals in sludge of four sewage treatment plants in Taiyuan City were analyzed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry, evaluated the pollution levels of heavy metals in sludge. Besides, we have the measured value compared with the limit of agriculture standard in order to analyze the possibility of land utilization.Chapterlll:The heavy metal forms in sludge of four sewage treatment plants in Taiyuan City were analyzed using BCR sequential extraction, determination to explore the stability and toxicity of heavy metals under natural conditions, so as to further evaluate the security of land application.ChapterIV:Choose one of the sewage sludges and the typical soils in Taiyuan City, add the sludge to soils in the laboratory, analysis the change of total heavy metals and chemical forms in the soils. And, study dosage of sludge which is effect to the total heavy metals and chemical forms of soils.
