Metal quantum film with nanostructured surface is non-continuous.The distribution of quantum dots on the surface presents to be dense.Sometimes, quantum dot is also called the "artificial atomic". It is anano-structure for bounding conduction band electrons, valence band holeand excitons in the limited space. When the particle size is nanometer level,it is enough small to cause the quantum limit domain effect, macroscopicquantum tunneling effect and coulomb blockade effect. Therefore, thenano system is different from macro system and micro system, and itshows many special physical and chemical properties, such as lowdimensional physical properties. Basing on the special properties of thequantum dots, correlative devices have appeared recently, such asGaAs/AlxGa1-xAs single electronic transistors and quantum dot resonanttunneling diode. This article includes the fabrication of quantum films,which base on self-assembly behavior of metal atoms on the surface ofnano structure substrate. We find that some samples show specialelectronic transport characteristics at the room temperature.This first chapter introduces the research background and significance of the topic. The second chapter introduces the process of nano structuresubstrate, the fabrication of aluminum quantum film and gold quantumfilm. We discuss the structure of quantum film in the different preparationconditions and find the best way to make the quantum dots film. In chapter3we focus on the electronic transport characteristics of continuous nanofilm and discontinuous quantum dots film. In the fourth chapter, weanalyze the coulomb blockade effect, the electronic transportcharacteristics of metal-quantum island-metal structure and the conductioncondition. The chapter5introduces the analysis of electronic transportcharacteristics for our testing samples. We measured5kinds of V-Icharacteristics of these samples with different thickness and nano structure.These characteristics are linear V-I characteristic curves, linearbench-shape V-I characteristic curves, index-shaped V-I characteristiccurves, index shape with peaks V-I characteristic curves, blend shape V-Icharacteristic curves. In the last chapter, we devoted to conclusion andfurther research.
