Polypropylene (PP) is a kind of important industrial crystalline polymer,which is widely used because of its easy synthesis, the low price, abundantraw materials, chemical corrosion resistance, the best comprehensiveproperties and easily processing molding. But the shortage of polypropylenelike mechanical properties, weather resistance, resistance to creepdegeneration and poor compatibility with other polymers, restrict itsapplication scope. In recent years, as the demand for general plastics whichmore functions increase, which makes the polypropylene modified researchone of the hot topic in polymer modified area home and abroad. In allpolypropylene modification methods, adding nucleating agent is the mosteffective way. For decades, people using various research method in thenucleating agent of the molecular structure design, nucleation crystallizationmechanism exploration, and control factors, which make nucleating agent forpolypropylene modification success in applications.This paper first synthesized two kinds of polymeric nucleating agent,which are the ball nucleating agents and liquid crystal nucleating agents, and then the melt blending method was taken to blend the nucleator withpolypropylene resin in toughening research. Analyzing the nucleating agentstructure through NMR and DSC, and investigating the nucleation andcrystallization behavior of blends by POM, WAXD, DSC and SEM methods.Finally the aim is to pick the most effective polymer nucleating agent, anddetermine the most appropriate crystal condition. This paper also tries to givereasonable explanation of this kind of special polymeric nucleating agent intonuclear mechanism. The study of understanding of the polymer of nucleatingagent into nuclear characteristics and induction, the mechanism ofpolypropylene crystallization rules, which has important guiding significancein preparing the polypropylene materials with good properties.
