On the basis of detailed analysis the predecessors’achievements, gob-side entry retaining control principle and supporting technology were analyzed and discussed by using the theory analysis and numerical simulation method. The overlaying strata movement rule and surrounding rock control technology of gob-side entry retaining were obtained.Through the theoretical analysis for the gob-side entry retaining roof breakage characteristics, the characteristics and stress distribution law of the residual border. The mechanism of roadside support and the key factors in the supporting structure stability are also researched.The calculation method of roadside packing support resistance was given in the paper. The stope roof top basic mechanical model was established by using elastic thin plate, so each position stress distribution of the plate was given. The fracture characteristics of the plate were analyzed therefore, the formation process of arc plate was given and various factors which influence roof breakage is analyzed. The conclusion was get that arc plate playing an important role in the strata control, so the arc plate can cover the roadside packing and provided enough time for concrete setting. Numerical simulation method FLAC3d is also applied to study the evolution process of the roadway surrounding rock stress during the roadway dug and retained, Studying the variation rules of the surrounding rock displacement and the development process of plastic zone. Provide the basis for reasonable supporting parameters in different surrounding rock conditions of gob-side entry retaining.The influences of stress distribution, displacement distribution and the influence ’of the plastic zone state by filling body width and Filling body strength were all researched, so the reasonable choice of supporting parameters in gob-side was gained.
