As we all know, Human beings can not live without water.With therapid development of industry and agriculture, water resources around us are pollutedto various extents and this situation affect people daily life. So water-quality problemhas become an extremely urgent thing. The removal of metal ions has become a hottopic these days.In this paper, research for heavy metal pollution has been done and preparedseries novel environmental friendly materials to remove heavy metals in water. Thecontents of this study are main made up of two parts:The first part is modification of chitosan and research on the adsorptionperformance of heavy metal ions.we use thioglycolic acid and chitosan so that get thesulfhydryl chitosan,sulfhydryl chitosan were characterized by FT-IR, SEM, XPS, andDTA-TG. The results show that the carboxyl of thioglycolic acid react with the aminoand hydroxy group of chitosan to form acidamide and acetic acid methyl ester,so thatthe thioglycolic is successful graft to the surface of the chitosan. and Then the effectsof several factors such as stirring time, pH value, temperature and dosage ofsulfhydryl chitosan are researched in order to find out their effects on the efficiency oftreatment, then get the best conditions of absorption after analyzing. the adsorptionexperiment results show that in100ml,20mg/L Cu2+when it satisfies certainconditions,310K(temperature),5(pH),12min(adsorption time),50mg(dose).The degreeof adsorption is87%in this situation,the maximum adsorption capacity is34.8mgg-1.the dynamics for the proposed model of adsorption Cu2+by sulfhydryl chitosa isproposed to the second-order reaction. in100ml,20mg/L Pb2+when it satisfies certainconditions,315K(temperature),6(pH),14min(adsorption time),50mg(dose).The degree of adsorption is90%, the maximum adsorption capacity is36.0mg g-1. Inaddition, the sulfhydryl chitosan have a good adsorption effect on real wastewater andhigh repeated utilization ratio.The second part is surface modification of mesoporous materials SBA-15andresearch on the adsorption performance of heavy metal ions. The main considerationof mesoporous materials SBA-15with highly ordered structure, uniform, largespecific surface area, porosity and other characteristics, EDTA contain more activegroup-COOH. This research selects the mesoporous material SBA-15as the researchobject, in order to get the NH2-SBA-15,we introduced in NH2on its surface, andthen grafted EDTA, then synthesis of mesoporous materialsEDTA-SBA-15.characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TEM, nitrogen adsorption anddesorption isotherms, XPS, indicates that EDTA has been successfully grafted on thesurface of the SBA-15, synthetic materials belong to mesoporous materials, itsperformance with mesoporous material characteristics. the EDTA-SBA-15has goodadsorption properties in50mL100mg/L, Cu2+in aqueous solution, when thetemperature is298K, pH is5, adsorbent dosage is50mg, adsorption time is20min,adsorption effect reached90%, the maximum adsorption capacity is273.2mg g-1. Inaddition, the EDTA-SBA-15have a good adsorption effect on real wastewater andhigh repeated utilization ratio.Using quasi the second level reaction model is capableof fitting the adsorption kinetic data (R2=0.9999), and the equilibrium adsorptioncapacity of the experimental values (qe, exp) and calculated (qe, cal) are in goodagreement, indicating the adsorbent adsorption for metal ions is controlled bychemical reaction. Adsorption using Langmuir model are in good agreement (R2=0.9792), adsorption process may include both physical adsorption and chemicaladsorption.
