Different particle sizes of polybutadiene latex particle was synthesized by seed emulsion polymerization. With the butadiene latex particle to the nuclear, SAN copolymer chains are grafted onto the surface of PB particles, Then, the power of ABS was prepared by blending with SAN resin. We get three kinds of ABS resins, the big particle size, the small one and both of them mixing with different components. And the impact strength, tensile strength and the melt flow rate was studied, The morphological structure was observed by Scanning electron microscope and Translation electron microscope.The conclusions are as follows:with the increase of rubber particle content, the impact strength of ABS resin which prepared with big particle size was increased, but the impact strength don’t increase again at some composition. The tensile strength decrease with the increase of rubber partical content, melt flow rate deline too.The impact strength of ABS resin which prepared with small particle size was increased with the content of rubber partical increase, but the value of impact strength always very low. The tensile strength decrease with the increase of rubber partical content, melt flow rate deline too.When the ratio between big rubber particle size and small rubber particle size is70/30, the impact strength gain the max value457.1J/m, when different ratio between big rubber particle size and small one, the tensile strength no significant change, melt flow rate deline with the increase of small rubber partical size content. The dynamic mechanical property of ABS resin was investigated by DMA and the results show that the Tg of rubber particle move to the low temperature zone, it shows that synergetic toughening effect occur between the two different rubber particle size, it improves the impact strength. The translation electron microscope shows that the big and small rubber particle disperse in the matrix uniformly, the mechanical property improved. Scanning electron microscope shows the fracture of surface of the state, Plastic flow happened at where the fracture of surface. Furthermore,it also proved the synergetic toughening effect occur between the two different rubber particle size,it can gained the high toughness plate grade ABS resins.
