The fly ash which contains a large number of silicon, aluminum, iron, carbon and othervaluable elements has tremendous potential value. Therefore, to carry out the study ofcomprehensive utilization of fly ash is an effective way to chieve resources cycle utilization. Ithas important practical significance. The fly ash from a power plant of Shuicheng Iron and Steel is the object in this study. Itadopts flotation recovery of carbon, magnet, and carbothermal reduction extracting Al-Si-Fealloy.The studies of flotation show that by the open circuit tests of “one roughing-onescavenging”, fine carbon with fixed carbon content of55.43%, and recovery rate of89.32%canbe obtained, and the tail ash fixed carbon content decreases to5.86%; while fine carbon withfixed carbon content of76.93%and the recovery rate of70.17%, and the tail ash with fixedcarbon content of11.89%can be obtained by the closed circuit tests of “one roughing-onescavenging-six cleaning”.Studies of carbothermal reducing fly ash and other raw materials to extract Al-Si-Fe alloyshow that1900℃is feasible carbothermal reduction temperature. At1900℃, the maincomponents of the smelt alloys are Si, Al and Fe. The average contents of Al, Si, Fe of1#alloyare9.75%,26.81%and56.38%. And the main phase composition is Al0.3Fe3Si0.7, FeSi, SiC andFeC. The average contents of Al, Si, Fe of2#alloy are18.56%,23.01%and52.16%. Its mainphases are Al0.5Fe3Si0.5, FeSi, SiC, Si5C3, FeC and TiC.
