With the rapid development of China’s steel industry, the matching coking scale expands unprecedentedly which caused serious pollution to the environment. Coking wastewater contain various of pollutants, including dozens of inorganic and organic compounds such as phenols, polycyclic aromatic compounds and heterocyclic compounds contained nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur. Coking wastewater is a typical high concentration of refractory organic industrial wastewater, and seriously endangers the ecological environment. Its governance of the main difficulties is to remove organic matter and NH3-N. The presence of NH3-N, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and other organic matter is toxic and inhibit growth of microorganism. Thus, coking wastewater treatment is difficult and more expensive to treat. The current processing technology represents many disadvantages and the treatment effect is unsatisfactory. Therefore, it is imperative to carry out the advanced treatment of coking wastewater..This paper first introduced the status of iron and steel industry development and the sources of wastewater. Technology and the problems of coking wastewater treatment at home and abroad were reviewed. In addition, a pretreatment-A/A/O-TNC treatment of coking wastewater technology integrated as the main process was designed and the technical and economic feasibility was discussed.With the growing strict regulation on the coking wastewater discharge standards, the common biological treatment process has reached the limit. The physico-chemical treatment and advanced treatment are required on the basis of biochemical treatment. We choose advanced oxidation technology-TNC advanced treatment technology. Advanced oxidation process is mainly through a variety of means to further oxidize CODcr, which is hard to be degraded after air flotation treatment. it has advantage of high hydraulic load, small occupation area, high removal efficiency. TNC for advanced oxidation processes in the ionization of oxidation decomposition process.The TNC is advanced treatment process applied in post-traditional-process. It can oxidize and remove the pollutions further. The effluent water is crystal clear, and can meet the national emission standard.According to the GUANGFU practical operation, the sewage treatment showed that the ammoni volatile phenol, SS, sulfide, cyanide oil removal efficiency reached 99%, the CODCr removal efficiency reached98%. All indexs met the national discharge standards, and standard wastewater was reused. All diesels were collected separately to avoid secondary pollution. The advantages of the process are simple operation and high efficiency. The treatment process is feasible in terns of technology and economic aspects.
