It is known that aluminium electrolysis is heavy energy consumption industry which is one of the industries in the core of macro control in present years. Qinhai Qiaotou Aluminum&Electricity Co. Ltd where the author stay is one of thousands of industries joining the action of energy saving. Therefore energy conservation and cost reduction projects are major constructions in industry.The direct current consumption which is about94%of the total consumption is one of the major consumption in aluminium electrolysis process. So, the point is to reduce the direct current consumption in aluminium electrolysis process. Based on the theory about aluminium electrolysis and experiment in the actual production, the current efficiency and average voltage of240KA aluminium electrolytic cell have been studied. By the optimal study on the aluminium electrolytic cell, the results has been show as follows:The direct current consumption is directly proportional average voltage to and inversely proportional to current efficiency. Therefore the direct current consumption can reduce by increasing the current efficiency and decreasing the average voltage.The technical indexes of aluminium electrolysis process have been optimized by means of the orthogonal test and the optimal technical conditions of240KA aluminium electrolytic cell have been decided. Then the optimal technical conditions can be adjusted in order to increase the current efficiency.In order to increase the current efficiency, the size of molten aluminium mirror can be changed by changing the size of artificial edge and furnace hearth inner profile.The key for decreasing the average voltage is decreasing the voltage drop of anode, cathode, electrolyte, decomposition and polarization, the current bus bar and setting off anode effect. The voltage drop of anode and cathode reduce by improving the material and structure of anode and cathode. The voltage drop of electrolyte can reduce by improving the composition of the electrolyte. The experiments show that decreasing the impurities can decrease the voltage drop of electrolyte. The voltage drop of decomposition and polarization can reduce by changing the distance between anode and cathode, the temperature of electrolyte, the concentration of A12O3, the current density of anode and so on. The voltage drop of the bus bar can reduce by changing the structure of bus bar and improving the welding quality of bus bar. The voltage drop of setting off can be reduced by reducing the effect coefficient, reducing the effect time, reducing the effect peak pressure.
