Electrolytic manganese (EM) anode slimes are by-product of the production of electrolytic manganese, the Mn content of which is during40to50percents.And it contains elements such as Pb、Se.But there are very few study reports on the recycle of manganese anode slimes.Most of manganese anode slimes are landfilled,which lead to a wast of resourse.This paper reports the study of the leaching of EM anode slimes in the presence of SO2based on the study of the leaching of manganese ore,so as to separate Mn and Pb of it.In order to reach the aim of the leaching of Mn and the enrichment of Pb,the leaching process of EM anode slimes in FeS2-H2SO4-H2O system and in the presence of SO2are compared.The results of study indicate leaching EM anode slimes in the presence of SO2is fit to the separation of Pb and Mn, based on which the factorial experiment was done in the process of "Leaching-oxidation-neutralization-sulfide precipitation-electrolysis".The results of this research is as follow:(1)The best experiment condition of the leaching Mn anode slimes in the FeS2-H2SO4-H2O system is as follow:m(anode slimes):m (H2SO4): m (pyrite)=1:0.92:0.75,the temperature is85℃,the experiment time is4h,the extraction rate of Mn is95%.(2)The optimal conditions of the leaching Mn anode slimes in the presence of SO2is as follow:the SO2flow rate is150ml/min,the H2SO4concentration is36g/l,the experiment time is100min,the temperature is25℃,the particle size is0.15mm,the extraction of Mn is more than90%,the percentage of MnS2O6is5%,the Pb of leaching slag is20%.(3)Based on the lab experiment,the factorial experiment was worked in the process of "Leaching-oxidation-neutralization-sulfide precipitation-electrolysis", the results indicate that preparing lt EM demand2.2t, It SO2gas, the Pb content of leaching slag is15%-18%, the carbon and sulfur of EM are0.016%and0.025%,respectively. The results of lab experiment and factorial experiment indicate that the leaching of EM anode slimes in the presence of SO2can seperate Mn and Pb effectively, which can be promote to manganese industry.
