There-dimensional ordered macroporous silica (3DOM SiO2) have been successfullyobtained by templating method using the polystyrene colloidal crystal template. Through theafter-grafting method thiol-functionalized there-dimensional ordered macroporous silica(3DOM SH-SiO2) was obtained. The composition, structure and surface physical andchemical properties of the samples were characterized by the way of Laser Particle SizeAnalyzer, Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM),Thermogravimetric Analysis (TG), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR),Elemental Analyzer (EDS), and so on. Last,3DOM SH-SiO2is applied to adsorb heavy metalions.The PS microspheres of particles were prepared using an emulsion polymerization. Themonomer content affects PS latex particle size: as the monomer content increased, the size ofPS latex particle turns large. And during reaction stirring uneven can lead to PS latex particlesize distribution is too wide. Colloidal crystal template was assembled by a natural andcentrifugation deposition method.The results of SEM and TEM showed that the obtained materials have a typical3DOMstructure.The comparison study of alkoxide solution and sol system as precursor,experimental results showed that the sol system used in filling process effect is better. Theresults of FTIR and EDS showed that the sulfur content of the thiol functionalized3DOMSiO2was4.17%.Adsorption character of3DOM SH-SiO2were evaluated by the adsorption experimentsof heavy metal ions (Hg2+and Pb2+). The results showed that the adsorption performance ofthe thiol-functionalized material were good. We discussed that the adsorption performancewere affected by the adsorbent mass, contact times and pH values of aqueous mediums, andcompared the adsorption performance of the3DOM SiO2and3DOM SH-SiO2on Hg2+andPb2+.
