In this paper,3,5-di-(4-cyano benzyloxy) benzyl alcohol and3,5-di-[3,5-di-(4-cyano benzyloxy) benzyloxy] benzyl alcohol were synthesized by the convergent growth method using4-(bromomethyl)benzonitrile and3,5-dihydroxybenzyl alcohol as raw materials.The corresponding carboxyl-terminated dendrons of3,5-di-(4-carboxyl benzyloxy) benzyl alcohol and3,5-di-[3,5-di-(4-carboxyl benzyloxy)benzyloxy] benzyl alcohol were synthesized by the hydrolysis of2and4. These novely dendrons have been fully characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrometry, MALDI-TOF-MS as well as1H NMR.A novel poly (aryl ether) dendritic phthalocyanine zinc(II) namely: tetra-(3,5-di(4-nitro benzyloxy) benzyloxy) phthalocyanine zinc [ZnPc(NO2)8] was synthesized. It’s structure was characterized by elemental analysis, IR,1H NMR. Some photophysical properties of this dendritic phthalocyanine were studied. It was found that, because of prevention of the bulky dendrimers, this dendritic phthalocyanine showed lower aggregation behavior and monomer spectrum in organic solvent. Energy transfer did exist in ZnPc(NO2)8,from the dendrion to the phthalocyanine, which meant that this dendritic phthalocyanine was high-efficient light-harvesting system.The polymeric nanoparticle ZnPc(N02)8/m was formed between the amphiphilic block copolymer poly(ethylene glycol)-polylactic and polyglyctic acids (PEG-PLGA) and ZnPc(NO2)8. The photophyscial properties of ZnPc(NO2)8/m were studied by TEM, UV/Vis and fluorescent spectroscopy The nanoparticle of ZnPc(N02)8/m was spherial with a relevant size of70nm to200nm.Single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) was modified with ethylenediamine to form SWCNTs-ethylenediamine, and the subsequent it was attached to tetra-(3,5-di(4-carboxyl benzyloxy)-benzyloxy) zinc phthalocyanine to form the tetra-(3,5-di(4-carboxyl benzyloxy)-benzyloxy) zinc phthalocyanine-ethylenediamine-SWCNTs conjugate (SWCNTs-ZnPc) through acylation reaction. The resulting SWCNTs-ZnPc conjugate exhibits more excellent solubility in dimethyl formamide (DMF) than that of the SWCNTs. The sturcture of SWCNTs-ZnPc was characterized by TEM, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UV-VIS), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) as well as Raman spectra.
