Titantium oxide possesses many advantages in photocatalytic degradation of dye; however, it also has many disadvantages, such as:low photocatalytic quantum efficiency and narrow spectral response. Due to the low photon quantum efficiency and wide band gap, titantium oxide cannot utilize visible light in solar cell spectrum. All these problems have greatly limited its application in the field of photocatalysis. In this paper, we try to solve these problems by supporting photocatalysis on titantium oxide. In order to solve disadvantages of titantium oxide, the dissertation make some research in the following aspects:firstly, preparation and characteration of titantium oxide nanocrystals through two phases approach by using tetrabutyl titanate as titanium source; secondly, preparation of (ZnS)x(Cu2SnS3)1-x nanocrystal alloys and characteration of their chemical composition, structure and morphology; thirdly, preparation of binary nano-composite material of TiO2/(ZnS)x(Cu2SnS3)1-x by mixing the titantium oxide and (ZnS)x(Cu2SnS3)1-x nanocrystal alloys. Visible light photocatalytic degradation of dye was carried out by using as-prepared material; the experimental results show that the effect of as-prepared material in the application of dye degradation is better than pure titantium oxide nanocrystals.
