Thermoelectric material is named temperature battery material, which can convert thermal energy directly to electric energy and vice versa. It is a kind of novel functional material which can primarily be used in refrigeration and power generation. As previously reported, VA-VIA chemical compound was a exceptional representative, which was earliest studied and widely applied in the room temperature rang with a well thermoelectric properties. It is a mature TE material with attractive research value. In this paper, VA-VIA Bi2Te3nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal route and under the protection of pure N2, La doped Bi2Te3and Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3were prepared by the method of electromagnetic induction. The samples were systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR), transmission electron microscope (TEM), thermal conductivity, thermal power and electrical conductivity. By changing the reaction conditions, such as reducing agent and reaction time, to discuss the influence on morphology of nanoparticles and formation mechanism of the nanoparticals were discussed in detail. In addition, the thermoelectrical properties were characterized by the thermoelectric instruments, including seebeck coefficient and thermal conductivity, these nano-particles samples show good thermoelectric properties. Among the electromagnetic induction prepared sample, the La doped samples have lower thermal conductivity and enhanced figure of merit (ZT). The thermoelectric figure of merit of La doped Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3were improved up to1at room temperature.
