A great variety of optical crystal materials are widely used in high technologies.the silicon, germanium single crystal, the KDP etc are commonly used. With different hardness values, optical crystal materials are divided into hard brittle and Soft fragile materials.Mono-crystalline germanium is hard brittle optical crystal materials, this type of material is brittle and easy cleavage, when it is processed at room temperature, the surface defects such as cracks and potholes, seriously affect on the quality of its surface.Due to poor precision in forming technology of hard brittle optical materials performance, making the ultra-precision machining is very difficult.Traditional processing methods of hard-brittle optical materials technology, such as grinding, polishing.are low productivity and accuracy is not guaranteed. Some special structure optical elements can only be used in ultra-precision turning method to get the required optical properties of surfaces.Ultra-precision cutting process can overcome the disadvantages of the traditional processing technology, optical surface quality can be obtained directly on workpiece surface after processing.I do some research about technical problems that they are large precision positioning error, poor cutting quality.lack of theoretical guidance and dependence on experience excessivly. starting with PBC theory, analysing the best crystal orientation in material removal, and using molecular dynamics simulation in cutting process for research, base on the simulation results,I preliminary research the cutting technology.
