Supported Co-based catalyst is a very important Fischer-Tropsch(F-T) synthesis catalyst for the production of clean liquid fuels. Incontrast to iron-based catalyst, the supported Co-based catalyst has higheractivity, higher stability and lower selectivity of CO2, it therebyrepresents the preferred catalyst for the low temperature F-T synthesis.For supported Co-based catalyst, the addition of Ru promoter canincrease the catalyst activity, selectivity and stability of the catalyst.However, the structural requirement of its promotional efficieny remainsunclear.In this paper, we prepared several supported CoRu catalysts withgood dispersion and reducibility. Different characterization methodsincluding TPR, XRD, TEM, H2-chemisorption and FT-IR were used tostudy the promotional efficiency of Ru. Our conclusions are shown asfollows.The promotional efficiency of Ru depends on the position and distribution of RuO2precursors. The uniformly distributed RuO2paticlesthat closely contact with Co3O4enable to increase the reducibility ofCo3O4particles and the turnover frequency of catalyst. While theseparated and non-uniformly distributed RuO2particles only improve thereducibility of catalyst.
