Ultra-high-speed grinding machining is based on a revolutionary of processingtechnology develops. The technology is a German cutting physicist Carl.J.Salomon Dr.who first proposed in1931. The prominent characteristics of ultra-high-speedgrinding machining are greatly improve the grinding efficiency, wear ratio; greatlyreduces the grinding force and specific abrasion energy; improve machining quality,processing accuracy and ameliorate the grind ability of difficult grinding materials.Therefore, the German famous grinding expert, T. Tawakoli Dr. it’s known as "thepeak of modern grinding technology". International Institute for ProductionEngineering Research (CIRP) will it determine the center research direction of the21stcentury. At present, our country for ultra-high-speed grinding machining of CBNgrinding wheel’s research also less, have the achievements of foreign countriescompared also has the very big disparity. Therefore, increase the ultra-high speedgrinding machining of CBN grinding wheel’s research is particularly important at thisstage. This paper mainly studies used for high speed grinding of ceramic bond CBNgrinding wheel with ceramic bond performance.The experiment was in the CaO-Al2O3-SiO2(CAS) system of glass-ceramicsrespectively doped with the rare earth oxides V2O5, Y2O3and metal simple substanceCu, the different glass-ceramics were prepared. The microstructure and mechanicalproperties of samples were researched by bending strength, micro hardness, wear ratio,differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronmicroscopy (SEM), and so on. Based on this, the selection of comprehensiveperformance of the most superior glass-ceramics, together its and CBN abrasivepreparation abrasive sample. Through a series of performance testing of the sample,find the glass-ceramics used for ultra-high-speed CBN grinding wheel. Research shows the rare earth oxides V2O5, Y2O3and metal simple substance Cujoined can effectively increase the performance of the glass-ceramics, at the sametime for its microstructure also has certain effect. The sample with0.8%Y2O3massfraction has best mechanical properties (Bending strength is167.50MPa, Microhardness is753.26MPa and Wear ratio is1:8.23). Then the microscopic structure ofthe glass-ceramics is the most uniform and the grain size small size is about0.2μm-1μm, and a new crystalline phase separation (Li2Al2SiO10and β-quartz). This fullyillustrated that doped with the rare earth oxides V2O5, Y2O3and metal simplesubstance Cu improved the microstructure of the glass-ceramics and increase itsmechanical properties. The performance of bond and CBN abrasive also changes withthe amount of the rare earth oxides changing. When the content of Y2O3is0.8%, themaximum bending strength of CBN wheel sample reaching95.71MPa, explain thisglass-ceramics can used in ultra-high-speed CBN grinding wheel.
