1. In this paper, epoxy resin E-44was modified by styrene (St), butylacrylate(BA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), hydroxypropyl acrylate(HPA) via freeradical grafting polymerization. Then the resultant modified epoxy resin was usedas anticorrosive coatings of aluminum foil. The effects of amount of epoxy resin, amount of initiator, grafting time, grafting temperature on the compatiblity of themodified epoxy resin were studied. The effects of amount of initiator on the glasstransition temperature and molecular weight of grafted polymer were investigated. The structure and properties of the modified epoxy resin were characterized byFouriertransform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), gel permeation chromatography(GPC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermo gravimetric analysis(TGA). Then the modofied epoxy resin was used as anticorrosive coating foraluminum foil with cymel-303LF (the main composition of cymel-303LF isHMMM) as curing agent. The effects of grafting temperature, amount of epoxyresin, the molecular weight of the modified epoxy resin, amount of curing agent, curing temperature, curing time, amount of catalyst on the properties of the curedfilm were studied. The structure and heat resistance of the cured film werecharacterized by FT-IR, TGA.2. The RAFT chain transfer agent (CTA) RAFT-E-12was synthsized via thereaction of carboxyl group of2-butyric acid dithiobenzoate with the epoxy group ofepoxy resin. The epoxy resin emulsifier (Ⅰ) with hydrophilic group-SO3Na wasprepared by RAFT copopymerization, using styrene and sodium4-styrenesulfonateas monomer and RAFT-E-12as CTA. The resulting epoxy resin emulsifier (Ⅰ) wasused for preparation of waterborne epoxy resin. The influence of polymerizationtime, the amount of sodium4-styrenesulfonate, the amount of epoxy resin on theemulsion stability were studied. The influence of the content of hydrophlic group-SO3Na and the amount of epoxy resin on diameter of waterborne epoxy resin wasstudied. The structure of epoxy resin emulsifier(Ⅰ) and epoxy resin emulsion wereinvestigated by FT-IR,1H NMR, TEM and particle size analyzer.3. The RAFT chain transfer agent (CTA) RAFT-E-44was synthsized via thereaction of two carboxyl group of α-succinic acid dithiobenzoate with the epoxy group of epoxy resin. The resulting chain transfer agent was used in RAFTcopolymerization of styrene (St) and acrylic acid (AA), and the epoxy resinemulsifier(Ⅱ) with hydrophilic group-COOH was prepared. The resulting epoxyresin emulsifier(Ⅱ) was used for preparation of the epoxy resion emulsion after the–COOH was neutralized with trethanolamine. The influence of polymerizationtime, the amount of epoxy resin on the emulsion stability was studied. Theinfluence of the amount of-COONEt3and the amount of epoxy resin on diameter ofwaterborne epoxy resin were studied. The structure of epoxy resin emulsifier(Ⅱ)and epoxy resin emulsion were characterized by FT-IR,1H NMR, UV, TEM andparticle size analyzer.
