With the development of laser device, people found that transition-metal(TM) ions doped Ⅱ-Ⅵ group of main semiconductor materials (ZnSe, ZnS, ZnTe and CdSe) have shown the better laser characteristic in the infrared area. It is an ideal laser source for gas detection, remote sensing, optical communications, eye medicine, neurosurgery, high resolution spectroscopy, measures, optical parametric oscillation OPO and so on.We investigated the preparation and spectroscopic characterizations of the infrared wave band of ZnSe crystal from the experiment and theoretical in this paper. Experimently, the first research of the synthesis of polycrystalline ZnSe, then prepares by vacuum thermal diffusion of Tm2+(Cr2H、Fe2+、Co2—、Ni2+) doped ZnSe crystal materials. For the theoretical section, I have compared the Tm2+ions single doped spectrogram to analyze the band for transition metal ions in ZnSe of the energy levels. Of course, each ion shows the corresponding levels model and become simplified. Based on above research, I also work further to developing Cr2+/Fe2+、 Cr2+/Ni2+doped research. According to analyze the spectral characteristics of Tm2+: ZnSe and co-doped crystal, we interpretated the energy transfer between two ions mechanisms.
