Magnetic fluid is a magnetic nanometer material, it not only has the fluidity of theliquid but also retained magnetic characteristics of permanent magnet,.it is a newtunable optical functional materials. This paper mainly studies on microwaveabsorption properties of the magnetic fluid, and then discuss its application in theopto-fluidic technology.I first make a comprehensive introduction on magnetic fluid concerning itsdevelopment history,main types and research progress.Then,I introduce itsmagneto-optical properties and its potential applications in photonic devices.One ofthe most important reasons that magnetic fluid may has these properties andapplications is that when a magnetic field is applied parallel to the plane of a magneticfluid thin film,magnetic chains form in the same direction as the magnetic field.Thisis the reason of the dichroism about magnetic fluid. Based on above,I studied aboutmagnetic fluid:1、Through theoretical derivation which based on the quantum scale effect ofnanometer materials, and then combining the Kubo theory,I study the microwaveabsorption effects about the magnetic fluid. And then research and analyse thedichroism of the magnetic fluid on microwave absorption effect which in the magneticflied. So I know that the nanometer magnetic fluid can be used as a new microwaveabsorbing materials.2、Magnetic fluid can be tunabled by the magnetic field, through the microfluidicchannel technology and optofluidic technology which will be used for chip of MZI.The interferometer can be controlled by the magnetic field, thus I can control theinterference image.
