The effect of raw material, hard anodic oxidation,micro-arc oxidationcoatings and micro-arc oxidation coatings after sealing treatment on fatigueproperties of2024aluminium alloys has been investigated by usingAmsler100HFP5100fatigue testing machine under typical stress ratio (R=-1.0) conditions. The oxidation film elements and organic structure havebeen tested by using the SEM, XRD and EDM methods. and using the elasticfracture mechanics theory to analysis the causation that affect the surfacecharacter. The results show that the fatigue properties of2024aluminiumalloy treated by hard anodic oxidation process are lower than that of2024alloy substrate both at high and low fatigue loads. The fatigue propertiesof2024aluminium alloy treated by micro-arc oxidation treatment are betterthan that of2024alloy substrate at low fatigue loads, but worse than that of2024alloy substrate at high fatigue loads. However, they are better than thatof materials treated by hard anodic oxidation process. The fatigue propertiesof2024aluminium alloys treated by micro-arc oxidation and sealingtreatment are better than that of2024aluminium alloy substrate withoutoxidation treatment. These studies give us a simple and practical method tosolve the aluminium alloy fatigue properties decrease after micro-arcoxidation treatment.
