Mould quotation has a meaningful impact on the enterprise profitability as the firststep for mould/die manufacturers to obtain orders. It is a decision process involvingtechnology, experience, market and other factors.The complex environment of mouldquotation makes process have a significant characteristic of difference. The fiercecompetition in the market economy makes process have a characteristic of high efficiency.Therefore, constructing a precise, efficient, flexible quotation system for mould/diemanufacturers has the vital significance. Along with the development of the mouldenterprise informatization, a vast multitude of mould quotation data has been stored up.Itprovides new ideas and methods for the quotation system by constructing system with datamining technology and flexible data analysis.A system of quotation for injection molds based on data mining is put forward byexploring the data mining technology and mould quotation theory. According to datamining process model, the first step is business understanding and data understanding. Theinfluence factor on mould quotation is studied and a data model is established byextracting the material cost, development cost, manufacturing cost, profit and total costmodel with the input and output.The system demand analysis, working process andfunction model is designed based on the business understanding and data understanding..The data mining technology adopted in the system is deeply studied. The papermainly discusses the input/output technology such as data discrete, model evaluation andmodel combining. Then the principle of BP neural network (Error Back PropagationNetwork) and the detail use in the manufacturing cost model are analysed.Then the paperexplains the principle of decision tree as well as the use in the system.The data miningprocess used in the system is described detailedly.Based on the studies mentioned above, the quotation system based on data mining isproposed.The system can handle kinds of model building demand flexibly which is wellfulfilled with the flexibility of the system.Material cost and manufacturing cost can beachieve simply and quickly which is well fulfilled with the high efficiency of thesystem.The system discussed in this thesis with high flexibility and expansibility couldalso be used for reference in the quotation of other types of mould/die.
