Waste heat boiler for oxygen top-blown converter system, which uses multistagewater-cooled wall effect to cool high-temperature flue gas and then get steam products, is aflue gas waste heat recovery system. Waste heat boiler, as a main component of waste heatrecovery, is a special flue of realization utilization of flue gas waste heat and widely used inlarge and medium-sized oxygen top-blown converter engineering.The calculation of traditional thermodynamic calculation of waste heat boiler foroxygen top-blown converter is based on ‘waste heat boiler design guidelines’ JB/T7603-94and ‘technical condition of waste heat boiler for oxygen converter’ JB/T6508-92. However,that the existing standard thermodynamic calculation of waste heat boiler provided by theMinistry of Machinery Industry thinks the percentage of convection heat transfer in total heattransfer is very small, has no consideration of convection heat transfer calculation separately,and only convert it in the comprehensive radiation heat transfer coefficient relying onexperiences. These will cause a great error and inaccuracy of thermodynamic calculation. Allof these will affect the safety of the whole system and reduce the economic value of wasteheat boiler.In view of the above inadequacy, the paper mainly analyzes and researches the heattransfer form and thermodynamic calculation method of waste heat boiler for oxygen top-blown converter, and then gives the new thermodynamic calculation method combined withthe boiler-related algorithms. Its calculation contents mainly include: convection heattransfer area calculation, radiation containment area calculation, convection heat transfercalculation and radiation heat transfer calculation. At the same time, auxiliary method ofnumerical simulation verifies results.The research shows that convection heat transfer can’t be simply converted in thethermodynamic calculation of waste heat boiler for oxygen top-blown converter. Comparedto thermodynamic calculation method provided by the Ministry of Machinery Industry, thecalculation results of the new thermodynamic calculation method considering separately theconvection heat transfer calculation are more accurate and better to guide the design andmanufacturing work in practice.
