In this paper, the polyurethane material was modified by adding additives such ascomplex organic UV absorbers hindered amine and antioxidant to polyether polyurethane. The ozone, the UV and the ozone/UV aging tests were carried out using self-developedozone, UV and ozone/UV aging test devices. In this study, samples were respectivelytested by the single ozone aging experiment, the single UV aging experiment and theozone/UV aging experiment. The surface morphologies and aging characteristics ofpolyether polyurethane exposed to ozone, UV radiation and ozone/UV conditions wereinvestigated using colorimeter and yellowness index measurement, FT-IR, UV-Visapparatuses and FE-SEM.In the UV aging conditions, the color difference and yellowness index of the samplesare increasing with time, the test result showed that in addition to the sample withhindered amine, the the color difference and yellow index of the rest samples were all lessthan the u nmodified sample. The sample containing inorganic nanoparticles, organic UVabsorbers and antioxidant is the most powerful UV resistance. In the UV-visible spectrum, transmittance of each sample varies at different degrees of decline with time goingon.During the ozone aging process, the u nmodified sample had the most obvious changein colour compare with the modified samples. The UV-visible spectrum showed that ozonehas a strong effect on the additives which are used. The experimental results of theUV/ozone accelerated aging tests demonstrate that the changing trend of the colordifference and yellowness index of the samples with aging time are almost the same whichare all increased significantly. The sample containing inorganic nanoparticles, organic UVabsorbers and antioxidant is the most powerful weather resistance. It can be seen form theUV-visible spectrum that after120h exposure part of the additives were failure.During the aging process, the order of the polyurethane color difference andyellowness index were as follows, UV/ozone> UV+ozone> UV>ozone, the order of thePI and carbonyl index were as follows, UV/ozone> UV+ozone>ozone>UV, and thiseffect is particularly evident especially after aging120h. The results show a significantsynergistic effect between ultraviolet and ozone for aging of the polyurethane.
