The center segregation and center porosity have reduced greatly the internal qualityof the continuous casting products. At present, dynamic soft reduction is the mosteffective method to prevent these problems, and is an important indication of moderncontinuous casting. Therefore, it is of great important to study various process parametersand the impact of the depressed position soft reduction factors formation of the quality ofslab.According to the actual situation of slab casting’s product line in Shouqin MetalMaterial Limited Company and on the basic of simplifications and reasonable hypothesis, the basic mechanical parameters and boundary conditions are ascertained. Thethree-dimensional heat transfer and coupled thermo-mechanical finite element models areestablished using finite element analysis software MSC.Marc.The temperature field and solidified shell changes of slab in the mould andsecondary cooling zone are simulated. The slab deformation characteristics of softreduction process and equivalent stress strain distribution are analyzed. The influences ofliquid steel superheat, casting speed and water amount of secondary cooling zone on thesoft reduction position are analyzed. The results show that the superheat and castingspeed is directly proportional to the soft reduction position, the water amount ofsecondary cooling zone is inversely proportional to the soft reduction position.Theinfluence of different pressure range, reduction, reduction rate on the slab equivalentstress and equivalent plastic strain are explored. Simulation with different processparameters can provide references for the optimization of soft reduction process. Whichimproves the internal quality of the continuous casting products and play a guiding rolein the actual production.
