Continuous casting of steel has been widely used in the world because of its advantages of high productivity and low energy consumption. As an important stage of continuous casting manufacturing, solidification process is closely related with the quality of the products. With the rapid developing speed of computer technology, solidification process and the micro properties have made great progress. The Numerical simulations of solidification could be divided into two directions which are macro and micro, and the macro simulation is relatively mature. Related commercial software used in real engineering has appeared. Microstructure simulation has become the major focus since1990. This thesis uses120mm*120mm continuously cast billet as the research object to provide theoretic evidence. And the research mainly focuses on the influence on properties evolution caused by the temperature factors.(1)This thesis takes full consideration of heat transfer modes such as convection and radiation under three kinds of boundary conditions. The temperature field of continuous casting billet is simulated by the ANSYS FEM software. The section which changes by time in the temperature field is calculated by the ANSYS processor and the macro temperature field uses the large size network. Time step takes different values in response to the temperature gradient in order to get a better precision of calculation.(2)Cellular Automaton is a model that can simulate complex structure and process. Since the basic thoughts of cellular automaton method is clear and simple, a nucleation and growth model was built up by considering preferred orientation. The result gained by the simulation of this model is the same as the result of theoretic model.(3)To ensure the validity of the simulation, the micro simulation uses the meticulous network.(4)Considering the computer operation ability, three feature-point are selected to investigate the temperature field variation of solidified microstructure.
