Color prediction model of halftone devices predict output color through establishing the relationship model of ink dot area and output color spectral reflectance, it has highly guidance and predictive value in color reproduction of halftone devices.This paper firstly describes several color spaces and their respective characters, introduces color and color reproduction briefly and states the color formation principle of halftone equipments.Then some dot area methods are introduced and the advantages and disadvantages of these methods are discussed.The next chapter states different spectral prediction models commenly used. On this basis, a new prediction model is raised which is according to the arithmetic idea of cell YNSN model and combining Clapper-Yule model and YNSN model. This new model can improve the accuracy of the spectral prediction result but it doesn’t need as much measurement data as cell YNSN model. At last, experiments for prediction models are desinged, the experiment result is analyzed though spectral reflectance curve and chromatism, the prediction models’ accuracy is compared and the superiority and practical value of the new model is discussed.
