In this paper, molybdenum and tungstic containing catalysts were successfully prepared, and which were applied to the oxidative desulfurization of benzothiophene(BT). The effectsof catalyst preparation conditions and oxidation reaction parameters on their desulfurizationperformance were investigated with H2O2as the oxidant. The TiO2-MoO3mixed oxide catalysts were prepared by the sol-gel method andcharacterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),N2-adsorption specific surface area measurement(BET) and thermogravimetry-differentialthermal analysis(TG-DTA). The results showed that molybdenum species was highlydispersed in the catalyst of roasting temperature was600℃. The predominant crystal phase ofTiO2in catalyst was anatase. The desulfurization performance of catalysts with calcinationtemperature of600℃, calcination time of3h and Mo/Ti molar ratio of0.1was found to beoptimal. With TiO2-0.10MoO3as catalyst and under the conditions of model oil20mL,catalyst0.1g,30%H2O20.2mL, at75℃, react for60min, the reactants extracted usingmethanol with the volume ratio of solvent/oil of1, at20℃with15min, the desulfurizationratio of BT reached to97.9%.The SiO2-WO3mixed oxide catalysts were prepared by the sol-gel method andcharacterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),N2-adsorption specific surface area measurement(BET) and thermogravimetry-differentialthermal analysis(TG-DTA). The results showed that tungsten species was highly dispersed inthe catalyst with W-O-Si bond. The shape of the catalyst was porous-aggregates of spherical. The desulfurization performance of catalysts with calcination temperature of500℃,calcination time of3h and W/Si molar ratio of0.1was found to be optimal. WithSiO2-0.10WO3as catalyst and under the conditions of model oil20mL, catalyst0.04g,30%H2O20.1mL, acetonitrile/model oil volume ratio of0.3:1, at65℃, react for60min, thedesulfurization ratio of BT reached to99.6%.
