Rotary heating furnace is the first procedure of seamless steel tube production which is responsible for heating billet to the temperature piercing and rolling needed. The quality of pierced and rolled pipe directly depend on the quality of billet heating. Automation lever of mechanical equipments is decided to the production efficiency directly.This paper describes the ideas and the software development process of combustion control and electrical control respectively in two aspects including combustion control system and electrical control system, the HMI about2sets software also briefly introduced as well as the evaluation of software operation condition in this paper. Combustion control system and electrical control system both adopt Siemens S7-400PLC and Siemens WINCC monitoring software has been used for HMI.Heating technology is analyzed about requirements on combustion control system, including temperature, pressure, flow and etc. as well as the rotary furnace relevant instrument system and automatic adjustment circuit. The corresponding hardware configuration had made in combustion control system made according to the demand of heating process, introduced the technology of combustion control system for heating requirements of variety software implementation and HMI in combustion control system. The evaluation of software operation had to be done from inspection function, adjustment function and logic control and so on.Advantages and disadvantages about double cross limit control and pulse combustion control had been emphasized when taking the consideration that how to realize all requirements on heating process, meanwhile discussed the combination with normal double cross limit control and pulse combustion control, explored in details for control programming and made detailed program flowchart.For electrical control system, analyzed the requirements for electrical control system from mechanical equipments, including the control requirements of billet charger and discharger machine, charging and discharging furnace door, furnace bottom rotation device, hydraulic station. According to the requirements of mechanical equipments, configure the hardware of electrical control system. Introduced the measurement methods of furnace bottom position and billet charger&discharger translating, furnace bottom rotation and billetcharger&discharger translating control as well as described calculation of furnace bottom clockwise&anti-clockwise rotation and software implementation for other required function. HMI also introduced in electrical control system. Made the software evaluation of each equipment execution, time spending, operation stability and so on.Excepting for PLC of equipments movement in electrical control software the billet tracing in furnace and billet discharging statistic software have added, which these two parts should be automation lever2, but currently there’s no automation lever2system with RHF, so in this case the billet tracking and billet discharging statistic have been added to electrical control system if put production need into consideration. The software implementation about billet tracing in furnace&billet discharging statistic are introduced in detail and corresponding program flowchart in this article.This design is used for Rotary heating furnace control system inφ219Plant of Valin Hengyang Steel Tube, the control system has been put into operation for several years and performs very well.
