Recently extensive interest has been focused upon the Main Groupchalcogenidometalates due to their promising photoconductivity, photoluminescenceand nonlinear optical properties. The solvothermal reaction is becoming a versatile routeto the chalcogenidometalates. The incorporation of transition and lanthanide metals withchalcogenidometalates will not only give rise to the change of structure, but also enduechalcogenidometalates with new properties. In this work, the major studies are asfollows:1. The transition metal-containing selenidoarsenates [Co(phen)3][As2Se2(μ-Se3)(μ-Se5)](1),[Co(phen)3]2[As8Se14](2),[Co(phen)3]As2Se6(3) and [Ni(phen)3]As2Se6(4) weresynthesized using1,10-phenanthroline as ligand under solvothermal conditions. Thesecompounds all contain Se22–, Se32–or Se52–units. Comparing compound1,2and3,different compounds are obtained in different solvents using the same starting materialsCoCl2, As2O3, Se and phen. The influence of the solvent on sythesis thechalcogenidoarsenates are discussed.2. The lanthanide-contained chalcogenidoantimonates [Ln(en)2(dien)(η2-SbSe4)](Ln=Ce(5a), Pr (5b), Nd (5c)),[Ln(en)2(dien)(SbSe4)](Ln=Sm(6a), Gd(6b), Dy(6c)),[Pr(en)(trien)(μ-η12-SbSe4)]∞(7) were prepared by solvothermal reaction in mixeden/dien and mixed en/trien solvents respectively. The influence of lanthanide ions andethylene polyamines on the coordination of tetraselenidoantimonate [SbSe4]3- anionwith trivalent lanthanide ions are explored.3. The lanthanide thioantimonates [Ln(dien)2(μ3-SbS4)](Ln=Pr(8a),Nd(8b)) and[Ln(dien)2(μ2-SbS4)](Ln=Eu(9a),Ho(9b)) were synthesized with the starting materialsLn2O3,Sb and S in dien solvent.4. The synthesized chalcogenidometalates were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and X-ray crystallographic, and their thermal stability and optical propertieswere investigated.
