Spiraea which belongs to the subfamily of Rosaceae Spiraea is mainly distributed in Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Jilin of China. And the species have high diversity and richness. As a medical plant, it can be used to treat bruises, joint pain, and gastrointestinal disease and has the function of antioxidant and hypolipidemic. The residents in some parts of our country pick the leaves, fruits, seeds and other parts of Spiraea as drinking tea. The parts that can be used as tea have both great medical and nutritional value. The paper systematically studied the physiological role of Spiraea Salicifolia and discussed the mechanism of action of these physiologically active substances in depth, not only has a great influence on scientific research but also on the rational development and utilization of the resources. This provides an important basis for the development of its related processing industries and a huge economic value. This experiment by investigating the role of Spiraea Salicifolia in ethanol induced gastric mucosal damage, liver damage repair, fight against fatigue, the effect on lowering high cholesterol mouse model and hypoglycemic of hyperglycemia mouse model, we have following conclusions:1. There are no obvious symptoms of poisoning or death in the mice while they are under14consecutive days’fasting gastric perfusion and normal feeding of forage and water. According to the standard classification of the acute toxicity of chemical substances in <Procedures and methods for toxicological assessment of food safety>(GB15193.3-94), the result of acute toxicity test for siraea salicifolia transoral mice is LD50>10g/kg, which means siraea salicifolia belongs to non-toxic substances.2. Spiraea Salicifolia can significantly reduce the index of gastric mucosal injury(23.57), contents of MDA(14.16nmol/mg) and can greatly improve the content of NO(8.92mmol/g) and SOD(34.07mmol/g) in the gastric tissue which means it can repair gastric mucosal injury caused by ethanol.3. Spiraea Salicifolia can effectively reduce the levels of ALT(16U/L), AST (8U/L)and MDA (8.53nmol/mg)in the liver tissue and improve the content of GSH(8.05mg/g) in it. Spiraea Salicifolia can repair liver damage caused by ethanol. 4. Spiraea Salicifolia can significantly improve the load swimming time of mice(112.5s), so that the endurance of them. Meanwhile, Salicifolia can effectively increase the liver glycogen content(12.11mg/g), the muscle glycogen content(0.51mg/g) and lower body BUN(0.61mmol/L) and blood lactate content(1.19mmol/L). It has the effect of anti-fatigue.5. Spiraea Salicifolia can significantly reduce the contents of TG(0.13mmol/L), TC (1.22mmol/L) and LDL-C(0.99mmol/L) in high cholesterol mouse model and effectively increase HDL-C(0.67mmol/L) content, indicating its blood lipid-lowering effect.6. Spiraea Salicifolia can significantly improve the appearance of the diabetic mice and effectively reduce the blood sugar of the mice(0.45mmol/L) indicating its hypoglycemic effect.
