Under normal circumstances, free radicals keep a balance between creating and being scavenged. Otherwise, the occurrence of imbalance may lead to variety of disease. In the symptoms and performance, traditional Chinese and Western medicine called the body’s red, swollen, hot and pain as "Shanghuo" and "Inflammation". Inflammation has relationship with excessive free radicals in vivo.Chinese medicinal herbs are the major source of natural antioxidants. The functional components of herbal tea is from the ingredients of Chinese medicinal herbs. Antioxidant and Antiproliferative activities of20kinds of Chinese medicinal herbs(Honeysuckle Flower. Chrysanthemum. Sophora Flower, Commen Bomhax Flower, Mexican frangipani, Roughhaired Holly Root, Oroxylum indicum, Common Lophatherum Herb. Chinese Knotweed Herb, Microcos paniculata, Lotus Stamen, Longhairy Antenoron Herb, Dandelion, Cogongrass rhizome, Liquorice, prunella.Mulberry Leaf, Herba Houttuyniae, Mountain sesame root and Lygodium japonicum) in Guangdong herbal tea were systematically investigated in this study. The main research contents and results are as follows:1.The results of antioxidant active constituents of total phenolics and flavonoids from20kinds of Chinese herbs. It was found that Sophora Flower contained the highest total phenolics content with60.50±0.73mg gallic acid eq/g dried, at the same time. Roughhaired Holly Root had the lowest content with2.77±0.09mg gallic acid eq/g dried, Other herbs total phenolics content all between them. Honeysuckle Flower contained the highest flavonoids content with37.26±1.80mg catechin eq/g dried and Oroxylum indicum had the lowest content with0.64±0.05mg catechin eq/g dried.2. To evaluate the in vitro antioxidant activities of20kinds of Chinese herbsFuzzy comprehensive evaluation method was used to evaluat the comprehensive antioxidant activities of20kinds of Chinese herbs, The evaluation results showed that the highest comprehensive antioxidant activities of10kinds Chinese herbs from20were Sophora Flower> Chinese Knotweed Herb> Oroxylum indicum> Honeysuckle Flower> Liquorice> Chrysanthemum> Lotus Stamen> Lygodium japonicum> Microcos paniculata>Mulberry Leaf.Extracellular antioxidant activities of these20kinds of Chinese herbs was evaluated using hydroxyl radicals removal ability assay and oxygen radical absorption capacity(ORAC) assay. It was found that Sophora Flower had the highest capacity on scavenging hydroxyl radicals with EC50value of0.59±0.01mg/mL and the higest of ORAC value with860.68±30.08μmol. In cells antioxidant activities of these20kinds of Chinese herbs was evaluated using cellular antioxidant activity(CAA) assay. It was found that Sophora Flower had the highest CAA value in no PBS wash protocol with1062.01±24.60μmol of QE/100g and Chinese Knotweed Herb had the highest CAA value in PBS wash protocol with929.52±124.48μmol of QE/100g.4.The inhibitory activity to HepG2proliferation of20kinds of Chinese herbs were also studied in vitro, Liquorice showed the highest inhibitory effect with an EC50of0.52±0.04mg/mL.The Chinese herbs who had the higest BI values were Liquorice> Chinese Knotweed Herb> Sophora Flower> Oroxylum indicum> Honeysuckle Flower> Chrysanthemum> Lotus Stamen> Lygodium japonicum> Mulberry Leaf> Microcos paniculat.
