As the development of people’s living conditions,functional textles are becoming morefavored by the consumers.Researchers revealed that photocatalytic technology is a newway to make functional textiles and nano titanium dioxide is the most widely usedphotocatalyst.In recent years, researches on antibacteria, antiultraviolet light and thedegradation of VOC by nano titanium dioxide have been more popular.Up till now, thereare still some shortcomings in the application of nano titanium dioxide,such as the poordispersion in aquous solution,the poor fastness to the textile fabrics and the degradation tothe fabics, which restrcit its application on textiles.In this paper, we use titanium tetrachloride as the precusor and do some reseaches in itshydrolysis and crystallization performances.In traditional method, when the hydrolysis stepis done, titanium dioxide is often calcined at the temperature more than400℃,which is awaste of both engergy and time.While in this paper,we avoid the calcine step,save theenergy,thus simplify the synthesis process and improve the application of titanium dioxide.The hydrolysis is an important step in the production of titanium dioxide,so is thecrystallization. The particle mean size as well as the crystal form are affected directly byoperating conditions of these two processes.Some factors,for example,the hydrolysistemperatue,the concerntration of TiCl4and the surfactant are dicussed in the hydrolysisstep,while the crystallization temperature,the stirring time,the stirring speed and also theconcerntration of TiCl4and the surfactant are discussed in the crystalization step.Analyzethe mean size and the crystal form of TiO2by means of XRD method,then compare thephotocatalytic activity by the degradation of methyl orange and find out the optimum hydrolysisprocess and the crystallizing process.In this paper, nano TiO2is applied in the finishing of textiles,which is the mostcommon way in the application step.Researches on antibacteria, antiultraviolet light and the degradation of VOC are discussed.And most important is that a totally new dynamicsystem to evaluate the degradation of VOC is established,which makes the test veryconvenient and is advanced both at home and abroad.
