Polyurethane, PU for short, especially it’s foam products are widely used. Three-quartersof polyurethane products are polyurethane foam, because of it’s thermal insulation, this kind ofproduction is widely used. However, such materials have a fatal drawback, which is flammable.InordertoachievethegoaloffireretardantandChina’sbuildingenergyefficiencyprojects,the research and development of phosphorus and nitrogen reactive flame retardant was carriedout. A number of key technologies was developed, including: the development of syntheticorganic phosphate intermediates; directed to build organic N-containing polyphosphate reac-tive flame retardants; the inorganic siliceous sol is used to compound-modify in these reactivephosphorus-nitrogen flame retardants; the kinetic analysis of polyurethane degradation processwasresearched, andtheactivationenergyiscalculated. Thisprojectwillgreatlyenhancethefireretardantperformanceofbuildinginsulationmaterials. Therearealsosomeguidingsignificanceon polyurethane industry.In the flame retardant synthetic part, this article discusses the synthetic process of threetypesofflameretardants. Thefirstcategoryisthemelaminephosphatesaltflameretardant, theyare synthesized by three materials: mainly with phosphoric acid, pentaerythritol and melamine,the synthetic product are solid, then the the synthesis process is optimized with the orthogonalexperimental method.The second category is phosphonate-based flame retardant, the productsform are liquid. The third category is the a series DOPO flame retardants, some of the productsform are liquid and the other are solid. the last two kinds of reaction types are Mannich reac-tion. Then the flame retardants and polyether polyol is uniformly dispersed, this compositesis mixed with poly-methyl phenyl isocyanate in order to produce flame retardant-polyurethanefoam. This article focuses on mathematical reasoning of polyurethane degradation. Accordingto the usage of calculus, mathematical derivation is studied detailed. Then the differential ki-netic equation and integral kinetic equation are calculated. Through the mathematical analysis:change curve to straight, the method of calculation of this kind of equation is obtained. At lastthe activation energy and the apparent pre-exponential factor in the degradation process are cal-culated accurately by running a computer program which is written by myself. The activationenergy of the degradation process is calculated by TGA analysis, retardant mechanism in the degradation process is studied.
